Step 1
Before beginning the actual
installation, TURN OFF THE POWER. Install the
transformer on a wall or fence post above a GFI (Ground
Fault Circuit Interrupter) receptacle. It should be
positioned at least 12" above ground with the cable
terminals on the bottom. There is a 6' cord and plug
attached to the transformer. Keyhole slots on the back of
the transformer make it easy to slide the box onto the
screws. To prevent water from running into the receptacle,
loop a knot into the plug wire. |
Step 2
Connect the low voltage cable
to the terminal block with the supplied terminal ring
connectors of the transformer. The installation
instruction sheet provides detailed information. |
Step 3
Open all the cartons and
remove contents making sure no small packets of material
remain inside. Install the lamps, along with any lenses,
louvers and baffles. Using your plan, place each fixture
in its approximate final location. Run the cable out from
the transformer, laying it close to the fixtures. |
|
Step 4
If you haven't attached the
stakes to the fixture stems, do it now and then push each
fixture firmly into the ground. Aim the directional lights
in the generally correct area and thumb-tighten the
adjusting screw. |
Step 5
The patented PIGTAIL
CONNECTOR has two sharp pins designed to pierce
the cable's protective cover and make a secure, watertight
connection to the conductors. This is a DUAL
CIRCUIT DESIGN system and the location of the
pins is what places the fixtures on one circuit or
another. The instruction sheet gives you step-by-step
guidance to ensure that each circuit load is as close to
balanced as possible. If you do need to relocate the
fixture, or put it on a different circuit, there's no
problem. Just unsnap and reposition the connector anywhere
along the length of the self-sealing cable. |
Step 6
When all the fixtures are
installed to your satisfaction, test them to ensure
everything is operating properly. Turn on the main power
to activate the system. If applicable, set the time clock.
At dusk, fine-tune the aiming angles of directional
fixtures or make fixture placement adjustments based on
light output. Note: Transformers with the
photocontrol option have a daylight test mode mechanism.
Once the installation is completed and tested, the cable
may be concealed under mulch or ground cover, or behind
bushes. Burying the cable is also an option to avoid power
mower damage.
